The danger of teaching a language as diverse as Spanish is the tendency to present a "Single Story" of target culture, often minimizing the presentation or influence of minorities or marginalized groups. This presentation will demonstrate a level three curriculum that pushes students to investigate Afro-Latino culture through a unit on childhood to broaden their understanding of what it means to speak Spanish and their own identity within the world.
